It has been 15 years since Alex and Kathleen Nichol quit their jobs, abandoned their city lives, and, with high spirits, headed east to follow their dream of opening a winery. They made the move from Vancouver to Naramata in October of 1989 with their two children, who, buoyed by the promise of a dog, were just as excited as their crazy parents. Alex and Kathleen had been looking for the perfect property in the Okanagan for close to 9 years, and were near the end of their rope when they found what is now the site of their vineyard, winery, and home—a quaint 5½ acre patch of land located just below the abandoned Kettle Valley Rail Line, near the end of Naramata Road.
