Description:   Burrowing Owl Estate Winery is located on the eastern side of the Okanagan valley, just south of Oliver, on a sandy plateau that tilts gently towards the southwest. In its monumental Atlas of Suitable Grape Growing Locations in the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys of British Columbia (1984) Agriculture Canada published the results of its extensive analysis of Okanagan Valley microclimates and soils in the form of detailed maps. The maps rate important environmental factors such as solar radiation and hours of sunshine during the growing season, the risk of autumn frost, as well as soil character and conditions. The location of the Burrowing Owl Vineyards scored high in virtually all categories.
