The horse-shoe shaped vineyards belong to Dr. Jacques Papillon. The first grapes were planted in 1980 and is considered to be the first vineyard in Quebec. Ardoise means slate referring to the soil. The microclimate allows for the growth of vitis vinferas(Gamay and Riesling and hybrids (Seyval, Aurol, Vidal and Marèchal Foch).
