Collecting one specific kind of objects is probably one of the most well-known and wide-spread hobbies. People collect stamps, key rings, figurines and wines. Yet collecting wines differs from collecting many other objects in one specific way. You can drink it! What good are numerous bottles of wine if you cannot enjoy it at some point?

So, if you know wine and if you enjoy it, why not start collecting it? Just remember that there is no wrong way to collect wine just like there is no wrong way to collect other objects. If you have a preference for a specific type of wine, this is your starting point. So pick the varieties that you like and start collecting. Apart from that, you might want to consider the amount you are planning to consume and any special occasion when you need more wine than on a regular day.

Wine collectors also tend to recommend getting wines that can be consumed immediately and also wines that may take ageing. There is a sweet reward in uncorking a bottle of wine which might be older than some of your children.

No matter what wine you collect and how you collect, you have to remember about the right storage for your collection. It has to be stored under the right temperature, lighting and humidity. The angle of the bottle while it is stored has to be considered as well. However, this is not problematic nowadays. Wine cellars or cabinets are easy to acquire and install. Just remember that if you collect wine, the right storage is essential. Otherwise, your collection will not last long.

Finally, if you start a wine collection it will solve your friends’ problem as to what to get you for an occasion.
