In 1991 Bill Redelmeier made real his long time dream of opening his own boutique winery. A few years later, Southbrook opened its doors to the public, showcasing its first 4000 cases of wine. Since its modest beginning Southbrook has earned over 150 international medals and trophies for their table wines and fruit wines. Southbrook"s recent achievements include: Wine of the Year at the 2001 Air Ontario Awards for their 1999 Triomphe Cabernet Merlot, and a Gold Medal at the 2001 International Wine Challenge, in London England, for their 1998 Triomphe Chardonnay. In May of 1996 Southbrook"s unique Framboise Fruit Wine became the first Ontario wine to be carried by Harrod"s department store in England. Southbrook was recently awarded three medals at the Ottawa WIne Fair held in October 2001.
