The vineyard and winery were founded by Liz and Edgar Scherzinger who came to Summerland in 1974. Edgar planted some of the first Gewürztraminer in 1978 with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to follow. In fact Edgar was one of the first growers to plant Vinifera vines in the Okanagan Valley. The grapes were contracted out to other wineries until 1995 when the winery was established. They never looked back. By 1999 Liz and Edgar were ready to retire and they managed to convince their friends Ron & Cher Watkins that this would be a great lifestyle and business to get into. Ron had taken some viticulture courses years ago, and now started to work closely with the Scherzingers to learn the business. After a transition of some time, Ron & Cher bought the winery in May 2001. The winery now hosts a selection of 10 different wines crafted in a fruit forward style. The patio is fabulous and you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a glass of wine along with the terrific view and peaceful setting. Light snacks are also available. Visiting Scherzinger Vineyards is like going back to the old country. It’s unpretentious surroundings, charm and welcome provided by Ron & Cher and their staff, provide a true farmgate winery experience.

The St Hubertus and Oak Bay Vineyards where originally planted in 1928 by J.W. Hughes during a time when good agricultural land was plentiful. Today, only a few of the original vines exist but the same choice growing conditions continue to produce the high quality grapes for which our vineyards are known. Using organic techniques, the Gebert Family have carefully nurtured the vineyard into top condition. The founding of the Winery in 1992 has allowed the Family to translate their love of vines into the pleasure of their award -winning natural dry wines. The original Winery was destroyed in the Okanagan Mountain Park fire Aug 03.

The Summerhill Pyramid Vineyard comprises over 65 acres of which approximately 45 are planted. The organically grown grape varieties include; Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Gewurztraminer, Ehrenfelser and Pinot Meunier. They are flourishing here in the northernmost desert viticulture region of the world. Summerhill is a Certified Organic Vineyard using no herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers in the soil. Glacier rock dust is added to provide trace minerals. Remineralized soils are proving to produce more flavourful foods and healthier wherever they are used. Our Certified Organic Farm status is administered by SOOPA (Similkameen Okanagan Organic Producers Association).
